Everyone is so busy these days that they feel they don’t even have five minutes for anything, much less for some self-care. But for sure you do have ten seconds. Learn how many wonderful things you can do in that time. You might think there is not much you can do in ten seconds but you’d be surprised. Here is a list with some ideas of what to do in that time to begin improving your life. You've probably had tragedies or devastations in your life that happened in almost an instant. The same can be true for serendipities and miracles. They can happen in an instant. Life in this world is not about large chunks of time, it is about a few seconds at the time. Have you paid attention to how much information you can share, hear or watch in ten seconds? Don't underestimate the power of those few seconds. Here I'm giving you a few ideas of things you can do in just ten seconds that can be the beginning of a new life for you. The more ten-second activities you practice, the more improvement you are going to notice. Just don’t overthink it or over-complicate it. It’s very simple. If you feel stressed out over one of the ideas listed here, skip it and pick another one. Let’s start! 10 seconds to write down ideas and inspirations. Whenever you get a flash of an idea or inspiration, write it down or record it in your electronic device (written or voice) before you forget them. You will regret it if it’s something good because those inspirations don’t always come back. 10 seconds to start acting on your ideas/inspirations. After you have a great idea start acting on it before the mind brings you a reason why not to; especially an idea related to one of your desires. Begin acting on it right away because if you doubt you can get your desire fulfilled, the next thought your mind will bring to you is a thought of doubt. 10 seconds to celebrate accomplishments. We accomplish so many life projects in a year, but if you don’t celebrate those accomplishments right after completion, they will never be recorded in your mind. They still be recorded as open and this might cause you stress and overwhelm because your mind might make you think you still have so many things to do. So, before you go on to your next project give yourself at least ten seconds to relax, take three deep breaths, and mentally put a ribbon on that project—or sort of archive the file. This will allow its closure to be recorded in your brain and in all the cells of your body. After that you are going to feel the emotion of satisfaction and accomplishment—emotions that we’re always striving to feel. 10 seconds to do what you feel like doing. If you feel like doing something, don’t stop yourself. Allow yourself to do so even if for ten seconds. You are going to benefit greatly if not by the activity by allowing yourself to listen to yourself and make your feelings matter—even if they are small nudges to do something that doesn’t make sense as long as it’s in harmony with everyone involved. 10 seconds to relax and meditate. You might hear that meditation is the best way to feeling good, but I say meditation is just one of the ways to feel good. Yes, fifteen minutes of meditation can help you tremendously but if you feel you don’t have fifteen minutes to sit down and quiet your mind, for sure you do have ten seconds. Try meditating for ten seconds today. Maybe tomorrow you can do fifteen seconds, then twenty, and so on. But start with ten today. 10 seconds to find things to appreciate in your life. Another way to feel good is to find things you appreciate in your life. Not things you are grateful for, but things you appreciate. I appreciate I can type these words, I appreciate I can read them, I appreciate I have a device in which to read them. You get the idea. 10 seconds to hug your loved ones. I recommend you to do this every single day. We all like to be loved and touched. As I remember when my children were little, sometimes I wish I would have hugged them more. But I don’t let my mind play trick with me because I then remember I made an agreement with myself to hug them every single day. This helps me be sure that I did hug them enough because I did. Make an agreement with yourself and hug your loved ones every day. 10 seconds to tell them you love them. Hugs are fantastic and if you can accompany them with words of love, do so. Even though it is known in the family that everybody is loved, it is of great benefit for them to hear us say it besides just feeling it. 10 seconds to show some love to yourself. The love you give to others is depending on the love you give to yourself. Make sure you have moments of love for you as well. Read this if you don’t know what loving yourself is about. Begin with loving yourself for ten seconds and ten minutes then ten hours then all the time. It is good to love yourself. The more you love yourself, the more you can love others. 10 seconds to do what relaxes you. One of the ways to show love to yourself is to relax. Relax your body, relax your mind, and relax your emotions. Just relax or do activities that relax you even for ten seconds. Any activity that makes you smile is a good activity of relaxation. 10 seconds of intentional breathing. Whenever you need to relax, unwind or reset, take three deep breaths intentionally. After each exhale, relax your body and imagine that everything that you no longer need in your body is coming out through your breath. It works best if you are laying down—just be aware that you might fall asleep. I always put a timer because sometimes I don’t have time to play “nap roulette.” 10 seconds to cutoff toxic conversations. Whenever you are talking or listening to someone complain, criticize, or just talk negatively, give them no more than ten seconds before you change the subject or get out of their presence. This is an act of self-love. Trust me, you don’t want the energy (vibe) they send out into your body. 10 seconds to read food and product’s labels. Begin to pay attention to the chemicals that go into your body through your mouth and skin. They affect your body and emotional estates more than we think. Begin to be aware, conscious, and take control of your body. 10 seconds to connect with nature. Nature is everywhere. Take ten seconds to appreciate the petals of a flower, or the lines in a leaf, or the colors in any plants. You can also use ten seconds to hug a tree or feel the dirt or grass in the bottom of your feet. 10 seconds to consciously ask your body what it wants to eat. Not because something is in the store is healthy. Manufacturers sell their products to make money. It is your responsibility to listen to your body to keep it healthy. Remember, the more alive is what you eat, the healthiest it is for your body. Also, consider how they are treated before they get to your table. If they were sprayed with chemicals or treated harshly, that information is recorded in their cells, then when you eat them; their cells get into your cells. Think about that. 10 seconds for choosing how to feel this day. Right after you open your eyes in the morning, and before you get up, choose an emotion of how you want to feel that day. Then imagine what it would be like to feel that emotion. Keep imagining that for at least ten seconds. Two minutes is enough but you can spend more time with your imagination. Imagination is great! It makes us creators—creators of our own lives. 10 seconds to set your intentions for the day. Once you decide how you want to feel for the day, set your intention for the day. Decide what you are going to give your attention to this day. Do it for at least ten seconds. The better plan you have the more possible is you fulfilling your intention. This is what intentional living is all about. Dripping water hollows out stone, not through force but through persistence.” ― Ovid There you go; I hope you benefit from at least one of these ideas and begin to improve your life ten-seconds at the time.
